Check out the St. Charles City-County Library website for resources related to our One Read book.
The opfficial One Read program, contests, and events have ended but the resources remain!
A One Read is when the school community participates in a shared experience by reading one book during the same period of time. Several St. Charles County schools are participating and will be connecting with one another and the larger community through the public library.
This will be the third year St. Charles county schools have participated in a One Read. Participating schools are from Fort Zumwalt and Wentzville school districts.
It is a way to connect with others around a quality literary selection through a shared reading experience.
Reading the same book sparks conversation around relevant topics and helps readers to make connections to real world events.
A One Read provides a bridge for multiple content areas to collaborate together to create meaningful learning opportunities.
The book selection for the 2022-2023 school year is Dry Neal and Jarrod Shusterman. This book is an engaging dystopian that examines what could happen if a natural disaster of catastrophic proportions happens. When Southern California's water supply goes dry, life and death decisions must be made. Sixteen-year-old Alyssa and her ten-year-old brother are tested and have to make difficult choices to survive.
Dry was a 2020-2021 Missouri Gateway Nominee and has received starred reviews from School Library Journal, Publisher's Weekly, and Booklist.
