100% A* in 2024!
A-level Physics allows you to delve into the laws that explain why everything in the universe – from quasars to Quavers behaves they way it does
It’s a multi-faceted subject that can lead to a fascinating and fulfilling career, whether your interests lie in theoretical or experimental physics.
Studying A Level Physics will develop your reasoning, problem-solving and analytical skills to the next level. This will position you ideally for university level study or the workplace.
"Overall, I find physics to be a very interesting subject, as I like how it covers everything from the microscopically scaled particles up to planetary sized calculations. You have to put in a lot of work, but it really pays off when you understand everything that you study, and more. There are rabbit holes of research that you can constantly explore, which just makes it even more fascinating. I would recommend it to anyone who is considering a science based career, and overall, it is a very good A level to have on your portfolio"
"When studying physics there is a lot of difficult concepts that will take a lot of work and time to understand, however, this makes physics a very rewarding course to take. It has a wide range of topics that gives a good variety between lessons. It is overall enjoyable and provides a greater understanding of the world around "
"Being a physics student can be very challenging and will make you think about common concepts in ways you would never have done before. Physics can really challenge your problem-solving skills, and introduce you to new concepts which can deepen your knowledge about the world around you"

Practical Endorsement in Physics
Reported separately
Due to the heavy mathematical element to physics, a qualification can also help you explore mathematical studies and career path. It is also an essential qualification if you wish to go to medical school.
What is the practical component of A Level Physics?
You will complete 12 practicals over the two years of study that contribute towards your CPAC (Common Practical Assessment Criteria) you will also carry out other investigations and practicals throughout the course
Which options will I study?
We have chosen the Turning Points option which studies key historical discoveries in Physics - the discovery of the electron, wave particle duality and special relativity
How many exam papers will I sit?
3 exams papers in total - Paper 1 on year 12 content, Paper 2 on year 13 content and Paper 3 on the practicals and Turning Points
Do I get an equation sheet in physics?
Yes! An equation and data sheet is provided for students to use in the exams. We will spend time practicing using this in our lessons.
