Preschool Curriculum
LITERACY
Phonological Awareness: exposing the children repeatedly to the sounds of spoken words in English and Spanish through songs, games, lessons, centers, stories, etc.
Written Expression: introduce children to why we write, when we write, and what we write, as much as how we write; to help children begin to develop fine motor skills; and to help children understand that their words, thoughts, and ideas can be communicated to others in writing.
Letter Knowledge: introducing letter and language concepts while exposing children to the letters of the alphabet; to help children begin to understand that letters make sounds and combine to make words; words combine to make sentences; and sentences, whether they are written or spoken, communicate ideas.
Phonics: (Kindergarten Readiness) expose children to environmental and relevant print to help students identify words by "sounding out" the phonemes, blending them together and making words.
MATH & SCIENCE
Children become active learners as they explore the world around them using math and science concepts. Students develop as little scientists as they learn to observe, experiment, and evaluate during their experiments and exploration. Students work on developing number sense, counting and grouping objects, number recognition, shape recognition, patterning, and color recognition.
