The Fort Wayne Virtual Academy is Fort Wayne Community Schools' only completely virtual school. As such, it takes lots of creativity and intention to conduct fun, engaging, hands-on art experiences for students. What's more, we don't have a physical space where we can display student artwork.

In the fourth quarter of spring semester, 2022, students from the HS & 8th Grade Digital Design classes participated in a Project-based Learning (PBL) unit that answers the question, "How can we present art exhibitions that would take the place of the in-person exhibitions at brick-and-mortar schools?" The result is this site!
In the fourth quarter of spring semester, 2022, students from the HS & 8th Grade Digital Design classes participated in a Project-based Learning (PBL) unit that answers the question, "How can we present art exhibitions that would take the place of the in-person exhibitions at brick-and-mortar schools?" This site showcases student-curated exhibitions from the thousands of pieces our K-12 student artists created during the 2021-22 school year. Each student curator first made a website of their own, featuring a favorite hobby or pastime, in order to practice the skill of creating a website with Google Sites. Then, we studied what is necessary to create an art exhibition, both in person and virtually. After that, students crafted exhibition proposals to explain their curation strategy (theme-based, assignment-based, grade-level-based, featured artists-based). The initial PBL Project includes 13 student-created exhibitions on a wide range of topics.
