Every book on this list has been chosen by an Upper School student or faculty member who will then host the book discussion in September. Choice books are reviewed using the FWCD library selection criteria.
The choice book program is our way of encouraging you to read something enjoyable over the summer. It is one of the components of our FWCD summer reading program. In September, you will meet for a book discussion with others in our Upper School community who have read the same book.
Yes! Discussion groups will be made up of people who have read the same book (off this list).
Like the Moncrief Library, this reading list serves the 9-12 grade student population. Books on the list that have mature content (such as language and/or themes) are limited to 11-12 graders. Books for younger readers are limited to 9-10 graders.
After looking through all of the options, click on the "Click here to choose your book" button on the main page to choose your book. Choose something that you will enjoy reading.
Students and faculty are responsible for getting copies of their own choice books. You are welcome to borrow a copy from the Moncrief Library if it is available, borrow from the public library, or purchase from a bookstore. You are also welcome to read in your preferred format - print or digital. If you choose a digital format, please come prepared with your digital copy of the book during discussion.
