For my final year at Fountain Valley, I wanted to make a change in the community. I had served as my Sophomore co-class president and I figured that would be a great start to enacting change. So, this year I ran for the Senior Co-class president and won. In this role I have facilitated conversations between administration and students to make changes to rules and policies, extend privileges to seniors, plan events, and various other things. In this role I feel as though I have done a great job representing the senior class and bringing their issues to light and addressing them by finding solutions that were appealing to the vast majority of the class. My favorite part of this position was getting to interact with the entire senior class as a whole and make new friendships and connections. Until this year, I had been extremely reserved and did not interact with a majority of the student population. Through this experience I have become more outgoing and have learned to interact with a wide array of people and listen to their concerns. Some of my biggest accomplishments have been getting senior wifi in record time, helping plan both a senior prank and senior skip-day that many enjoyed, and getting dinner off campus during the weekdays for boarders. Being able to represent my class and voice their concerns has been an honor and has opened my eyes to a whole new realm of possibilities for my future. I enjoyed getting to connect with different people of various backgrounds and fighting for their opinions. Politics or activism is something that I could see being one of my future careers and I attribute this realization to my position on the Community Council.Â
