As discussed at our AGM in January, we received funding from the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture to assist in sending some of our members to the FVGC AGM and Conference in Quebec City in March. Melvin Rideout, Kent Fudge and Krista Chatman attended on behalf of FVGNL and the following report was submitted to government to fulfill our contract with them.Â
After about 20 years without producer representation from NL, our delegates were well received. and we are happy to report that Kent is now one of the Atlantic Canada representatives for the Field Vegetable Group and Melvin is representing NL on the Berries working group and is now involved in the labour working group who are tasked with looking at improving and streamlining the processes for temporary workers as well as other topics.
We'd like to thank the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture for their continued support and hope to be able to continue to assist producers with travel opportunities in the future.
