Physical Education Expectations
Dear Parents and Students,
Many exciting activities have been planned for this school year. Students receive rules and skill instruction in team and individual sports with an emphasis on participation and sportsmanship. The exercise program is designed to enhance physical fitness with an emphasis on lifetime activity skills.
Please review this policy with your child.
It is very important that your child remembers to dress properly on their assigned P.E. day. For your convenience the class schedule is posted on this website.
The following dress requirements are for the purpose of preventing injury and to enable maximum participation in class.
P.E. Dress Requirements:
· PLEASE wear athletic or canvas shoes with tie strings or Velcro.
· DO NOT wear backless or open-toed shoes of any kind. This is a district wide rule.
· DO NOT wear tight or loose pants that restrict movement.
· DO NOT wear dangling jewelry such as earrings, necklaces, chains, bracelets, etc….
· Girls MUST wear shorts, pants, or tights under dresses and skirts.
The P.E. grade is based upon the following factors:
1. Participation and Cooperation: Work as directed, listen, complete tasks as given.
2. Sportsmanship and Attitude: Use positive comments, be courteous and respect others.
3. Follow School Rules: Outlined in the school discipline plan.
4. Wear appropriate P.E. clothing and shoes: Outlined above
5. Safety and Equipment: Concern for the safety of others and proper care of equipment.
Daily grade will be earned according to the grading factors and written work assignments.
Students who are unable to participate due to illness or injury must bring a note from home. In some instances a medical or parental release will be requested to return to P.E. If a student cannot participate in P.E. for an extended period of time, the student will be given alternative assignments to complete.
I look forward to a challenging and rewarding year of working with parents and students. Thank you in advance for your kind cooperation and assistance. Please contact me with any questions or concerns. The best way to communicate is through email.
