Fremont USD adopted Benchmark Advance three years ago for general education students in elementary grades. Your child will receive daily whole-group heterogeneous (all ability levels) instruction as well at least weekly small-group homogeneous (similar ability levels) instruction.

Weekly quizzes will be on Fridays. Please allow your child to complete these quizzes independently. I know as a parent there is a natural desire to want to help your child, but doing so means that I will not get accurate information about your child's progress and needs.

At least initially, whole group instruction will be provided during class using Google Slides. After each class I will post the slide decks we covered in Google Classroom. Please note: choosing to view the slides after class instead of attending class is not a good choice!

Small-group reading is an assisted reading lesson in which the teacher guides students at their reading levels. The goal of small-group reading is to reinforce strategies and skills (taught in the whole group lessons) through pre-teaching, reteaching, and small-group discussion. These skills will help improve fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.
