I have always been a teacher ever since graduating from Mumbai University with a Master's degree in Physics. I have 20 + years of teaching experience. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and learning with children in the age group of 8 - 17 years. I like to remember the quote "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars” from Norman Vincent Peale.
I expect all students to work to their maximum potential and be prepared to learn new things every day. I believe that "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." - Albert Einstein. It is a privilege to be able to partner with you on this journey.
I live in Pleasanton with my husband, two children, and mother-in-law. Besides teaching, I enjoy hiking, traveling, reading, cooking, drawing, painting, and watching movies.
Dear 5th Graders and Families,
Welcome back to a brand-new school year! I am absolutely thrilled to have you all back in my classroom for a second year in a row. We made so many incredible memories together in 4th grade, and I cannot wait to see how much your students grow, learn, and lead as 5th graders.
This year, our theme and guiding motto will be: "Learn to Know, Lead to Grow."
This motto is especially important because your children are now the leaders of our school. This is also their final year before making the big leap to middle school. Because you all already know how our classroom works, we have a huge head start. We are going to use this year to explore the world, gather knowledge, and build the leadership skills needed for the exciting adventures ahead.
Here are the major goals we will work on together this year to make sure the transition to middle school is smooth and successful:
Mastering Independence: Students will take full ownership of their learning. We will practice tracking assignments, managing time during projects, and organizing binders.
Working in Focused Groups: Students will spend ample time in smaller, quieter groups. This will help them build strong collaboration skills and learn to focus deeply.
Building Strong Study Habits: Middle school brings more independent work. This year, we will learn how to break big assignments into smaller steps, take useful notes, and study effectively.
📌 Important First Day Reminders:
Early Dismissal: As part of this year's schedule, we have an early dismissal the first week at 1:25 PM. Please ensure pickup arrangements are set for this time.
Stay Hydrated: It is going to be hot on Tuesday! Please make sure your child brings a filled water canister to school so they stay cool and hydrated throughout the day.
Enjoy your last day of summer vacation. Get plenty of rest tonight, and bring your curiosity and enthusiasm to our first day of school this Tuesday! We are going to have an unforgettable 5th-grade year together!
Warmly,
Mrs. Palamuttam
