Hi! I’m Ms. Johal, your 6th grade English and History teacher. I’m so excited to start this year with you and build a classroom where curiosity, creativity, and kindness guide our learning.
I am a proud Punjabi immigrant who immigrated to Fremont as a kindergartener and grew up attending FUSD schools, so it is incredibly meaningful to now teach in the same community that shaped me. Before joining Walters Middle School, I co-taught 2nd grade for a year, and spent over a decade working in big tech. Those experiences taught me the importance of problem-solving, collaboration, and thinking in new ways—skills I now bring into the classroom. I received a BA in Psychology from San Francisco State, and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Cal State East Bay.
My goal is to create a space where every student feels safe to take risks, share ideas, and grow as a learner. I believe in working closely with families to ensure students feel supported and have the tools they need to succeed.
I keep Aeries updated regularly and provide timely feedback so students can track their progress. Parents, please check Aeries for your child's grades and assignments. Participating in your child's learning is essential for their success. (Aeries Parent Link)
You can always reach me by email or ParentSquare, and I’m happy to connect anytime to discuss your child’s progress or answer questions.
I’m looking forward to an amazing year of learning, growth, and memories together. Let’s make it a great one!
