Welcome to Our Class!

Hello! My name is Mrs. Saavedra and I am so excited to be your child's teacher! I have proudly been teaching at Durham since 2016, and I love being part of the Durham Eagle family.

I have been teaching in California since 2001. During my teaching career, I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades, with most of my experience in 2nd grade. I truly enjoy helping students grow, build confidence, and discover a love of learning.

I was born and raised in beautiful Hawaii and graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor's degree in Human Development.

Some of my favorite subjects to teach are Math and Social Studies because I love solving problems, exploring new ideas, and learning about the world around us. I can also speak and understand a little Spanish.

My family is very important to me. In 2016, I became a mom to my wonderful daughter, Marissa. She is now 10 years old and will be starting 5th grade this year.

When I'm not at school, you can usually find me singing, spending time with my family, watching Netflix, or playing games on my Google apps. I also love chocolate and sushi!

I can't wait to learn, laugh, and make wonderful memories together this school year. It's going to be a fantastic year!
