English Language Development Teacher & CAASPP Test Administrator
Walters Middle School & Fremont Adult and Continuing Education
Welcome to my personal website. I am Karen Castillo Rivera. I’m an English Language Development (ELD) teacher at G. M. Walters Middle School, and I also teach at Fremont Adult and Continuing Education. With over six years of experience, I’ve had the joy of helping multilingual learners build confidence and succeed both academically and personally.
My background in teaching and childcare has shaped me into a flexible and empathetic educator. I love creating welcoming, student-centered classrooms, supporting families through English-Spanish translation, and using technology to make learning engaging and accessible.
I hold a B.A. in Bilingualism with an emphasis in English, a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in ELD, and certifications as a CAASPP Test Administrator and CASAS eTests Proctor. Above all, I am deeply passionate about empowering students to find their voice and reach their full potential.
Intervention class:
At Walters Middle School, I lead an ESL Conversation Club, supporting students who need extra help speaking in English.
