The Leitch Library welcomes all students with a catalog of over 19,000 books, offering a diverse selection of fiction and non-fiction titles, including bilingual books, graphic novels, and biographies! Students enjoy weekly class visits and can explore further during Open Hours before and after school.

Tuesdays & Thursdays: 7:40 AM - 3:00 PM
Wednesdays: 8:20 AM - 1:20 PM

Book Checkout & Returns
Students may check out books for one week (6 school days).
TK/SDC: 1 book
K–2: 2 books, 1 fiction & 1 nonfiction
Books may be renewed up to 2 times.
Books should be returned by your student’s scheduled return day:
If your student checks out on Monday , then their books are due the following Monday.
If your student checks out on Tuesday, then their books are due the following Monday.
If your student checks out on Wednesday, then their books are due the following Tuesday.
If your student checks out on Thursday, then their books are due the following Wednesday.
If your student checks out on Friday, then their books are due the following Thursday.
Some teachers prefer to have students return their books on a different day. Please ask your student’s classroom teacher for their preferred return day.
Each class has its own book return bin, which is placed outside the library each morning and inside the library on rainy days. Students can either:
Drop off their books on the way to class, or
Wait and return all of their books together with their class.
Alongside the regular classroom return bins, you will always see two special return bins:
Early Bird Bin – The first bin. Students can return their books here any time before their due date.
Forgetful Friends Bin – The last bin. Students should use this bin if their books are past their due date.
Overdue book notices will be sent home as needed. If books cannot be found or are damaged, the fines for each book will be noted on the overdue slip. Fines range from $10-$25 per book.
You have 3 payment options:
Pay by cash; write "FUSD/Leitch" and your student's name on the envelope
Pay by check; make payable to "FUSD/Leitch" and write your student's name on the memo line
Pay online using a credit card with My School Bucks
You also have the option of buying a new copy of the lost book (note hardcover books must be replaced with a hardcover book). Amazon is a great resource and often less expensive than the district fines. Please contact me if you’d like to purchase a replacement copy.
