FAQs

How many books can I check out and for how long may I borrow them?

Students may check out up to 10 books at a time for 3 weeks (Manga has a due date of 2 weeks).  Students may renew their books by speaking to the librarian as long as no one else has placed a hold on the book.

Where can I return my library books?

Students may return their library books

What is the layout of the library so I can find a book easily?

Our FICTION section is divided by 6 Genres (Realistic Fiction, Sports, Mystery, Horror, Supernatural/Paranormal, and Fantasy/Sci-Fi).  Within each Genre, the books are placed in alphabetical order based on the Author's last name.

Our NON-FICTION section is organized by Dewey Decimal number.  The Biographies are organized by the person of interest's last name.

Comics, Manga, and Graphic Novels have their own section by the doors.

What if I can't find the book I'm looking for?

Please see Ms. Rodriguez or Ms. Tung.  We can determine if the book is available at a different FUSD school and if so, we may be able to request a loan from that school.

Can I go to the library during Flex Time (TitanUp Time)?

The library is open during Flex Time by appointment ONLY.  After brunch, all students are asked to step outside so that we take attendance at the door.  If you do not have an appointment, you will not be added in.

When do Library Flex Time appointments become available?

The Library Flex Time appointments become available Wednesday morning before the next week.  Spots do fill up fast and we only allow 55 students in the library during Flex Time.
*** The best time to make an appointment for flex time is during Wednesday Homeroom for the following week.

May I visit the library during class time?

Yes!  The library is open from 7:30am to 4:00pm and does not close during the middle of the school day (unless there are unforeseen circumstances or planned events).  When using the library during class time, please bring a pass (post it note or lanyard pass) from your teacher so we know you are authorized to be out of class.
