Class overview
Hindi Level 1 and 2
The Hindi language program at our school is designed to develop students’ skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, while also fostering cultural understanding and appreciation of the Hindi-speaking world.
Hindi Level 1
In Level 1, students begin their journey with the Hindi language through meaningful and engaging activities that build foundational communicative skills. The course emphasizes practical use of the language in real-life situations, aiming to lead students to the intermediate-mid proficiency level. Students will engage in interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational tasks, while learning to express feelings, exchange opinions, and obtain and provide information in Hindi. Cultural exploration is an essential part of the curriculum, allowing students to compare Indian culture with their own and develop a global perspective. The class is conducted primarily in Hindi to support language immersion.
Hindi Level 2
Level 2 builds upon the foundation established in Level 1, guiding students toward greater language proficiency and fluency. Students expand their vocabulary and grammatical understanding while continuing to develop their skills in all four areas: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. They will engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions. Students participate in a wide range of interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational communication tasks in Hindi, reflecting real-life situations. This course aims to bring students to an intermediate level of proficiency while deepening their understanding of Indian culture in a global context.
About me
Hello! My name is Anupama Sarna, and I’m thrilled to be your Hindi teacher. Teaching Hindi is more than just a profession for me—it’s a passion rooted in my deep appreciation for language and culture. I chose to become a Hindi teacher because I truly believe that learning a new language opens doors to understanding the world in new and exciting ways. Hindi, in particular, offers a rich cultural heritage that I love sharing with my students.
My teaching philosophy centers around creating a non-intimidating and encouraging atmosphere where students feel confident and inspired to use their newly acquired language skills. I strive to create a classroom environment that not only supports learning but also stimulates curiosity by exposing students to the diverse and vibrant aspects of the Hindi-speaking world—through its traditions, music, art, festivals, and everyday life.
This upcoming semester, I’m especially excited to explore new interactive activities and cultural projects that will bring the Hindi language to life. I look forward to learning and growing together as we embark on this journey of language and cultural discovery.
