The Exploring Coding & Robotics series is designed for students beginning high school in Grade 7 or Grade 8, who have limited or no experience with coding or digital skills. This series is a streamlined version of the ten-year Department of Basic Education CAPS draft curriculum for Coding and Robotics, covering Grades 0 through 9.

There are four topics: 

• Computing Concepts, Internet and Communication Skills (also known as theory)

• Social Implications

• Application Skills (word processing, spreadsheets, and HTML with CSS)

• Algorithms, Coding with Robotics

The curriculum is flexible, allowing schools to choose which topics to cover. For instance, a school might focus on theory, Scratch programming, and circuits while omitting sections on word processing, spreadsheets, and HTML with CSS.
