The Exploring Coding & Robotics series is designed for students beginning high school in Grade 7 or Grade 8, who have limited or no experience with coding or digital skills. This series is a streamlined version of the ten-year Department of Basic Education CAPS draft curriculum for Coding and Robotics, covering Grades 0 through 9.
There are four topics:Â
Computing Concepts, Internet and Communication Skills (also known as theory)
Social Implications
Application Skills (word processing, spreadsheets, and HTML with CSS)
Algorithms, Coding with Robotics
The curriculum is flexible, allowing schools to choose which topics to cover. For instance, a school might focus on theory, Scratch programming, and circuits while omitting sections on word processing, spreadsheets, and HTML with CSS.
