Ever wonder how and why the ancient Egyptians mummified their dead? Learn how to be an ancient Egyptian embalmer and prepare Mr. Ulysses Penn for his journey to the afterlife! Using fabricated mummies, students will explore mummification through each step of the process including brain removal, evisceration, desiccation, and wrapping. Students will also investigate the religious significance of mummification. This workshop uses life-like mummies.
This program takes students on a step-by-step journey through the mummification process.
Discover how a family's desire to secure its freedom collided with a nation's debate over slavery. Students will exercise critical thinking skills, examine primary resources and explore the issues leading to the Supreme Court's infamous Dred Scott Decision of 1857. BYOD - Bring Your Own Device! Students are invited to bring and use a cellphone, smart-phone, tablet or laptop to participate in this lesson. (Chromebooks will be available)

Coping Strategies Escape Room!
Elementary students in grades K-6 have daily social-emotional learning lessons and activities in their classrooms. Some of these lessons focus on learning and practicing appropriate coping skills for when emotions run high. Come join this interactive “escape room”-style scavenger hunt to learn a few coping strategies of your own! Families and children can work together to solve a variety of puzzles and challenges in order to discover the secret phrase to unlock the door and “break out” of the room.

The Raider Robotics Team will have a competition ring set up so that participants can drive a robot around while trying to complete a given task. The team will also be showcasing the three robots they built for this year’s “In the Zone” competition and highlighting their successes.
