Physical Education is a New York State requirement for graduation. Students participate in a wide variety of activities to help them develop good habits and an appreciation for fitness. Fitness activities, team sports, individual sports, games, and project adventure are an integral part of the program. Values such as sportsmanship, accepting responsibility, respect for others, safety, cooperation, leadership, effort and attitude are taught throughout the activities.
Standard 1. I can demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.
Standard 2. I can apply knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics related to movement and performance.
Standard 3. I can demonstrate the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.
Standard 4. I can exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.
Standard 5. I can recognize the value of physical activity for overall wellness, enjoyment, challenge, and/or self-expression.
Standard 6. I can recognize career opportunities and manage personal and community resources related to physical activity and fitness to achieve and maintain overall wellness.
