Ceramics 2 is a more intense project based course that builds off the skills developed in Ceramics 1. Students will look more critically at ceramics created by past and present artisans while developing their own style. The projects created are an illustration of their skills and a portfolio is then developed that can be used to further their study of the medium.
Unit 1 (Functional Set)
I can use my knowledge of the ceramics to create two vessels that are cohesive and serve the same purpose. (Creating 2.1HSII)
I can use my knowledge of the colorant affixation process for ceramics to add to the cohesive feel of the set.(Creating 2.1HSII)

Unit 2 (Thrown with a Lid)
I can use my knowledge of the ceramics throwing process to create a basic base form with an altered lip to support a lid and a matching lid. (Creating 2.1HSII)
I can use my knowledge of the colorant affixation process for ceramics to add to the cohesive feel.(Creating 2.1HSII)
I can identify the difference between the three types of lid types and what vessel lip type works best.(Responding 7.2 HSII)
Unit 3 (Thrown Sculpture)
I can use my knowledge of the ceramics throwing process to create a basic base form with the intention to alter it into a non functional form. (Creating 2.1HSII)

Unit 4 (Mask)
I can use my knowledge of the ceramics technique, drape mold, to create a mask containing a historical component and an element that expresses fear. (Creating 2.1HSII)
I can use my knowledge on display to determine the best way to create a mounting structure on the mask to display it in the most effective way visually.(Creating 2.1HSII)

Unit 5 (Artist Reproduction)
I can explain the context between modern day and historical use of apprenticeships (Creating 2.1HSII)

Unit 6 ( Final/Compilation)
