Micah Group Facilitating

Micah Group facilitators are experienced church leaders who (1) are committed to the convergence of worship, preaching, and justice; (2) have a vision for bridge-building among diverse clergy in their community; (3) are already building relationships across denominational, ethnic, gender, and other cultural divides, and (4) are ready to commit about two years to Micah Groups as a priority in their life and ministry. (Click here for more general information about Micah Groups.)

New Micah Groups are formed when two co-facilitators (from different denominations, ethnic and/or gender contexts) gather 8-12 diverse ministry leaders for 1-2 years of "courageous conversations." Together, co-facilitators are responsible for:

      • Recruiting 8-12 group members
      • Facilitating 12 meetings utilizing the Micah Groups curriculum and resources provided by the Ogilvie Institute of Preaching
      • Building relationships with co-facilitator and group members through interaction between meetings
      • Praying regularly for co-facilitator and group members
      • Participating in two Facilitator Gatherings at the Fuller Seminary campus in Pasadena, CA
      • Participating in bi-monthly, one-hour Facilitator Webinars
      • Submitting periodic written reports and evaluations

Serving as a Micah Groups facilitator is a two-year commitment to doing justice in your community by helping to facilitate a journey of courage and vulnerability with ministry peers. It's also an opportunity for Micah Groups to invest in you. Micah Group facilitators receive:

      • Ongoing participation in a global network of Micah Group leaders discerning together God's will for pressing issues of justice
      • Personalized guidance and training for facilitating cross-cultural relationships and growth in intercultural competency
      • Participation in two Facilitator Gatherings at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA (expenses paid), including two days of shared vision-casting in the convergence of worship, preaching, and justice; training for facilitating a "safe place for courageous conversation"; and optional opportunities to meet with Fuller faculty and staff and participate in other Fuller programs
      • Option to integrate your Micah Groups experience into a Fuller Seminary Doctor of Ministry degree
      • Honorarium of $2000 in appreciation of your time and commitment to Micah Groups

HOW DO I BECOME A MICAH GROUPS CO-FACILITATOR?

STEP 1: Submit an application for consideration as a co-facilitator

Click here to access the online application form. If you already have a co-facilitator in mind, both applications must be received before being considered for Step 2. If you do not already have a co-facilitator in mind, your application will be considered for possible matching with another leader in your community. Applications are considered on an ongoing basis, and you will be contacted within 7-10 days about next steps.

STEP 2: Selected co-facilitator teams submit a new group proposal

After having submitted individual applications and being chosen to continue as a potential co-facilitating team, the two co-facilitators work together to submit a proposal for a new Micah Group in their city. (Click here to download the proposal packet.)

Proposals are considered twice each year: in August for groups that will be part of "J" cohorts launching between January - March, and in March for groups that will be part of "S" cohorts launching between September - November. We are currently accepting proposals for the 2019-S cohort, due by March 15, 2019.

STEP 3: Selected co-facilitator teams participate in web-interviews

Potential co-facilitator teams whose proposals are selected to continue will participate in a web-interview with the Micah Groups Director and members of the Micah Groups Advisory Team. Final group selections will be made for "J" cohorts by September 14 and for "S" cohorts by April 5.
