WELCOME TO

Mrs. Paredes' 6th Grade Classroom @ La Paloma Elementary School

Welcome to Mrs. Paredes' class!

Hello! My name is Michele Paredes (Mrs. Paredes) and I'm 48 years old. This is my 18th year of teaching, and I've taught 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grades. Last year, I taught 6th grade at Fallbrook STEM Academy. For 6 years before that, I taught English, AVID, and STEAM at Potter Junior High School. Prior to joining the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District, I taught elementary school in Anaheim, near Disneyland. I grew up with Spanish being the primary language in my home, so I speak, read, and write in Spanish, if you prefer to communicate with me in Spanish. My husband and I have 3 children: Francisco (16 years), Augustine "Auggie" (14 years), and Cecilia (12 years). In July 2020, we adopted a puppy named Bentley (1 year). He's our family's first pet, and he is so spoiled! We live here in Fallbrook, so if you see me around town, feel free to say hello. My favorite things to do are play the piano, sing. Most of all, I love to spend time with my family going to club/school water polo, swim, and volleyball tournaments to see my children. I'm looking forward to an unforgettable 6th grade year with you all.

Classroom and Learning Expectations

Be Responsible! Be Respectful! Be Ready!

  • Be on time: Be sure to wake up early, eat breakfast at home or at school, and be on time for school. Attendance is manditory and will be taken daily.

  • Be prepared: Finish eating before entering the classroom. Be prepared with your chromebook fully charged. Pack your phone and smart watch safely in your backpack during school hours. You may not use phones or smart watches during school hours. Consequences include confiscation, parent contact, and the device being picked up by your parent during school office hours. Bring a reuseable water bottle if possible every day. Be in your seat with your materials ready on your desk by the time the tardy bell rings or by the time class starts.

  • Communication: Raise your hand to speak and wait for the teacher to call on you. Ask questions if you need clarification. If any adults at school ask you questions, you need to answer them respectfully and immediately. While you are in the classroom, please use academic language only; remember, YOU ARE A SCHOLAR.

  • Participation: Be an active participant in the class discussions. Stay focused and on topic. It is OK for you to repeat an answer that someone else already contributed. That counts as participation. Be sure to check your Google Classrooms and your email daily.

  • Location: If you are doing homework or working from home, try your best to find a quiet place to work free from distractions.

  • Be Respectful: Be respectful with your words, actions, and content. Follow the "Golden Rule:" Treat others as you would like for them to treat you.

  • Reminder: All assignments and participation efforts will be graded. Please remember that whatever you post in virtual learning or online platforms (instagram, google classroom, snapchat, etc.) will be seen by all of your present and future teachers, classmates, principals, coaches, universities, future employers, (and possibly parents), so make wise choices and choose your words, pictures, profile pictures, icons, actions, and posts carefully.

Parent Resources

MEALS

All FUESD students can pick up nutritious breakfast and lunch meals during the school year for NO CHARGE! This year in California, all California public schools will receive FREE MEALS for breakfast and lunch! You can send a snack from home, and students can bring a refillable water bottle if you would like.

COMMUNICATION

All parents will be added as a guardian to your student’s Google Classrooms, if the school office has your correct email address. This will allow you to view student assignments and grades posted. Please check this weekly with your student to ensure they are not missing any assignments. Every week, Mrs. Paredes will post a week-at-a-glance newsletter full of important information about the week. Be sure to bookmark my Google Site website on your computer, phone, or tablet, so that you will have your child's important 6th grade information handy.
