Hello, I am Ms. Norton, and I live in Oceanside, CA. I have been teaching for the Fallbrook School District for 28 years, covering all grade levels from K-6. This year I will be continuing to teach sixth grade. The sixth-grade curriculum is both challenging and fascinating, and I am eager to engage with students who are full of curiosity and enthusiasm.
As a child, I grew up in a military family and lived abroad for most of my elementary school years, experiencing diverse cultures and educational systems. I have also lived all over the United States. For over 39 years, I have called San Diego home, where I have raised my four children—three daughters and one son.
I became a teacher to support children in their growth and learning, inspired by the belief that "the world is their oyster." Growing up in a military family, my fifth-grade teacher in SHAPE, Belgium, left a lasting impression on me with her firm yet fair approach and her passion for sharing knowledge. Additionally, my grandmother, who taught American Indian children in a one-room schoolhouse, profoundly influenced my decision to pursue a career in education.
I have a deep passion for technology and its potential to provide students with a platform for learning and elf-expression. Technology prepares them for 21st-century jobs that have yet to be created. This year, I am thrilled to be teaching all subjects, as I have a profound interest in a wide range of topics and enjoy the opportunity to blend different areas of learning. My goal is to create a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels empowered to explore, question, and grow.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy exploring the beautiful San Diego coastline, hiking in nature, and spending quality time with my family. I believe that a well-rounded life enriches my teaching and allows me to bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to the classroom. I am looking forward to an exciting year of discovery and learning with my sixth graders.
