Mrs. Petroff's Music

Class overview

This is a Pre-k through 5th grade general music classroom website. Our students work very hard in our curriculum Purposeful Pathways. This focusses on Musical Literacy (reading music), ensemble playing and singing, movement, improvisation (Vocal and instrument) and composition.

We will create two concerts a year, which are a blast, and a must- see for the whole family!- We usually start program music 6-7 weeks before our concerts.

Welcome to my classroom! I have played music since 2002 when I started in the 6th grade. I grew up in Rockford, Michigan. I completed college at the Grand Rapids Community College and Ferris State University. I moved to Miles City, Montana for my first teaching job. After a few years, I have moved to Missoula, Montana and now teach in Frenchtown!

I play in the Missoula City Band during the summers on my primary instrument, the oboe. I also play in the Missoula Community Band. I have learned to play the Oboe, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone. I love to learn new instruments and greatly enjoy a new challenge!

If I had the chance, I'd love to learn how to play the bassoon. My favorite instruments are the oboe, and French Horn.

About me

In my free time, I am an avid Jeep enthusiast, a seamstress, and an outdoor fan! I am huge into fitness and eating healthy.

My husband and I enjoy tinkering on vehicles and taking them for adventures. Our favorite way to relax is to go for a drive in the jeep. We particularly enjoy rock crawling. When the weather is nice, we take the top and doors off and enjoy the air. My jeep is white, but we have two other red ones at home; which we call Big Red and Little Red.

My favorite snack food is a heath nut mix with cranberries.

My favorite colors are purple, blue and yellow.
