The Project took place as a first step to inventory the biodiversity surrounding a very peculiar segment of Oued Medjerda in the governorate of Béja, between Mestouta and Bechouk region. The singularity of the study site is its emplacement at the mouth of the biggest dam in Tunisia. Sidi Salem’s dam is Tunisia’s greatest natural resource and a strategic reliability for its governance.

Goal: Psammodromus algirus doriae is an endemic subspecies to, Galition and Fauchelle islets (Archipelago of la Galitte in Northern Tunisia). The aim of this project is to provide a first insight on this unstudied subspecies, resolve its status as species/subspecies and pinpoint the threats ringing it to formulate a proper conservation plan.
