Centralized Data about Ophidians in the North African Region
Snakes form an important group in the North African region. They exist and play a fundamental role in different ecosystems; from forests to Sand dunes. Nonetheless, our knowledge about this taxonomic group still limited and large regional inferences about species populations, their threats and conservation status still not explored yet. As a first step towards building a better understanding of this group, we start this first collaborative open source dataset to serve as a starting point for further research and inferences.
This dataset will be an important resource for researchers studying the snakes of North Africa. It will provide valuable information about the distribution and abundance of different species, as well as their conservation status. By making this information openly available, we hope to encourage collaboration and foster further research on this understudied group of animals. The dataset will also be useful for conservation organizations and policymakers, as it will provide valuable data for planning and implementing conservation efforts. Ultimately, our goal is to increase our understanding of North African snakes and ensure their long-term survival in the region.
