Public transport in Thessaloniki (Greece) is fairly simple and mostly bus-based, with a new metro line recently added.

✈️ Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” (SKG)

Location:

• About 13–15 km southeast of the city center

• Around 20–30 minutes by car (can be longer in traffic)

• Line 01X (day) / 01N (night)

• Runs between the airport and the city center / main railway station

• Duration: ~40–60 minutes

• Ticket: ~€2

• Runs frequently (every 20–30 minutes)

👉 This is the most common option for travelers.

🚕 Taxi

• Duration: ~20–30 minutes

• Cost: ~€20–€30 (more at night or with luggage)

• Available right outside arrivals

🚗 Private transfer / rental car

• Many rental companies at the airport

• Good option if you plan to travel outside the city

🚇 Metro (NEW)

• Thessaloniki now has a modern metro line

• Currently 1 main line connecting key areas (city center, railway station, etc.)

• Fast, clean, and very reliable

🚶‍♂️ Walking

• The city center is compact and walkable

• Many attractions are along the seaside promenade
