Prof.Dr. Oscar Vicente

Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Department of Biotechnology, Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). Over the last 20 years, he has taught many different courses in this area to undergraduate and postgraduate UPV students, lately in the Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering Bachelor degrees. He has also supervised a large number of Bachelor, Master and PhD Theses and the work of Erasmus exchange students and visiting scientists. His research interest focuses on the study of plant responses to abiotic stress and stress tolerance mechanisms, especially to drought and salinity, using physiological, biochemical and molecular approaches and different species: wild plants adapted to stressful natural habitats, vegetable and ornamental crops, or forest trees. Oscar Vicente has published over 100 JCR-indexed scientific papers – many of them in top journals, such as Plant Cell, Plant Journal, Plant Physiology, Frontiers in Plant Science or PLoS ONE – with over 2600 citations and an ‘h’ index of 29. Oscar Vicente is Vice President and coordinator for Spain of the European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association (EBTNA), and Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Agricultural Science and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV), Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
