Photos of the expected behavior are posted in the classroom. It is important for the students to understand the expectations.
Attendance: It is the policy of the instructor to be present and on time when school is in session. Students are also expected to be present and on time. Class will not slow down or restart for students that are tardy. Students are responsible for obtaining any information they miss due to a tardiness or absence.
Course Materials: Lectures and labs will be posted before class on the online science journal. Students are expected to maintain their online journals and ask questions when they need assistance completing work.
Participation: Students are expected to participate with in-class discussions and any online discussions posted. Participation in these discussions will be included in the gradebook.
In-Class Work: All labs and worksheets are due by the end of the week. Late labs and worksheets will be deducted 10% each day they are late. If you need to miss class, inform the instructor BY EMAIL to schedule make-up of a lab.
Homework: Homework will mainly be review of material on a daily basis. From time to time, homework will include handouts, completion of labs write-ups and posted discussion boards.
Exams: There will be chapter exams. Biology students will have an End of Course Exam where a passing score is NOT required for full credit of the course however the final score will be 30% of the final grade.
Communication: Communication in the classroom will be based on mutual respect. The instructor will facilitate communication and students are expected to communicate clearly to the best of their abilities. All official course communication outside of class will be conducted online so students should check their google classroom on a daily basis.
Classroom Expectations: It is expected that everyone, instructor and students, will be respectful of each other at all times, both inside and outside of class. This includes paying attention when someone else is talking, following school handbook policies, and being an active learner.
Academic Integrity: Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated and will result in a grade of zero for the assignment. Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, plagiarism, copying answers, and use of outside materials on exams.
