We have ongoing Makerspaces available in the library. Below is our list of what we currently have available.
Use your coding skills to make Cue come to life. This is a great tool to use with projects and many academic classes. Click on Cue to go to the Wonder Workshop page for a video and learn more about this cool bot! (2019) We have 3 of these bots. They are our first MakerSpace Club activity.
Stop Motion Animation Studio: Use our Legos, play-dough, or a creation of your own to create an original stop motion animation. This is also a great tool to create visuals for school projects. Click on Stop Motion Animation to check out a video (2014) from Mashable to learn about the magic of stop motion animation.
Craft Zone: The craft zone is an opportunity to create with your hands. This Makerspace runs off parent and staff volunteers. Some craft zone Makerspaces that are possible are sewing, knitting, pottery, birdhouse building, and 2 liter terrariums. Check out the calendar on the home page to see what craft zone Makerspace we have from month to month. Parent volunteer link here.
Check out this link with ideas for even more possible makerspace opportunities. This is my Digital Makerspace page on Wakelet where I keep websites and ideas that we may want to try out in the library. Fill out the Google form below and submit any Makerspace ideas you are interested in our media center purchasing.
Thanks,
Mrs. Dawkins
Open the above Google form in a new window by clicking on the light gray box with the upward arrow. It appears to the right of the form when you hover the cursor on the right margin beside the form. Just complete and submit. 😊
Teachers, remember that you can bring your classes to the media center to use any of our makerspaces. Mrs. Dawkins is happy to teach the classes about how to use these awesome materials and technology. She will also come into your classroom and assist you with any tech related classroom instruction. Just send her an email at adawkins@fsd1.org to schedule or sign-up via her shared calendar on the school's Google Drive.
