We've now reached the final step of the writing process: Publication. As a writer, your last task would be to give your work a final proofread and edit. This would be to check for small errors or mistakes, and not for any major revision. The article would then move to the editing table, where it would be laid out for publication. In a magazine or journal, this would require it to be spread across a certain number of pages (a newspaper may even cut some of the article to help it fit on the page). We will publish your work electronically, and so each article will be given a page, and a table of contents will be created to simplify navigation.

The Final Task: Publication
First and foremost, give your essay a final proofread. While some small errors may always slip past writers and editors, this is to be avoided. Too many errors (or even any) may make the published journal seem amateur at best.
Once you are confident in your final draft we will move on to layout. Our class will meet in an "Editor's Meeting" in which we will decide the exact format of the journal. There are many questions to answer:
Will we use multiple columns or just one?
What font will be used?
What size font will the title be displayed in? The body?
Do we require artwork or graphics? What will the cover of the journal look like?
What order will the articles appear in?
After our Editor's Meeting, you will likely have a few tasks to complete as we assemble and lay out the new issue of the Passages Annual Review. Be sure to check in with me if you have any questions about your work.
We will use Google Sites to create our Journal. Each author will be responsible for laying out their article in a separate page of the website. Be sure to follow the guidelines and expectations for the journal which we develop as a group during our Editor's Meeting.
