Apps also provide a fast and easily accessible way to particpate in Citizen Scientist programs. Consider the GLOBE, National Geographic's Marine Debris Tracker, and Beecology apps. The GLOBE app does require some online training and is geared more to middle schoolers and older. The National Geographic's Marine Debris Tracker is an interactive way to record garbage your family picks up on your nightly walk around the neighborhood. Debris Tracker is designed to help citizen scientists like you make a difference by contributing data on plastic pollution in your community. We've been tracking litter since before smartphones existed, and we're still driven by uniting technology and citizen science to fight plastic pollution. Every day, dedicated educational, non-profit, and scientific organizations and passionate citizen scientists from all around the world record data on inland and marine debris with our easy-to-use app, contributing to our open data platform and scientific research.
The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is the nation’s leading organization in lifelong environmental learning, creating opportunities for people to experience and learn about the environment in ways that improve their lives and the health of the planet.
