Team Welcome Video
Team Welcome Video
Dear Students on Team 7-2,
Welcome to J.P. Case and to Team 7-2! We are so eager to get to know each one of you and are looking forward to having a wonderful year together. We are here to support you, and know that if you have questions or if there is something you do not understand, please reach out to any one of us. We’d like to make sure that you completely understand some of the expectations of Team 7-2.
The most important thing you can do for yourself during 7th grade is to advocate for yourself. What does it mean to advocate for yourself? Advocating for oneself means to seek help when needed, to ask questions when you don’t understand, and to keep lines of communication open with your teachers. It is your responsibility to check GENESIS frequently to monitor your progress in your classes. Please see your teachers during tutorial with questions/concerns, or to discuss low grades and missing assignments. We are here to help you whenever needed. Advocate for yourself!
On the following pages you will find more on expectations and helpful information.
PERSONAL DEVICES
1. Students will adhere to ALL rules and regulations, as well as consequences for breach of ANY of the rules set forth in the district Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) including but not limited to being prepared daily with a fully functional and charged chromebook and using it appropriately for academic purposes.
2. Personal devices, including cell phones and smart watches, should be turned off and stored in your locker at all times.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM
Each of your teachers will have a Google Classroom and will be using Google Classroom as our main site where you will submit assignments. Your teachers will give you the class codes and get you set up within the first few weeks of school. Please have Google Classroom open and ready for each class.
Our TEAM 7-2 will also use a Google Classroom for TEAM 7-2 announcements. Please check this daily. The link to this classroom is here.
HOMEROOM
Each day at 8:15, you will enter your assigned homeroom. Be sure to be on time, as attendance is taken before announcements. All students should be silent for announcements, since it contains important information you may need to know to be successful!
TUTORIAL
Tutorial will take place in your assigned Homeroom. The purpose of the tutorial is to complete schoolwork, check on missed assignments if you were absent or missed class, or receive extra help from a teacher. A quiet, academic environment will ensure that all students can focus on completing their assignments and will allow teachers to assist students as needed.
1. Tutorial is the first 30 minutes of B Day, Block 1. You must come to the tutorial with enough work to do for the entire tutorial time. If you do not have homework, please bring something to read.
2. Please work independently and silently.
3. Each Team 7-2 core teacher has a limited number of passes to be used by students who need additional academic assistance. Students must speak to teachers first before leaving the tutorial room to which you are assigned. You must sign out when you leave, and sign back in when you return.
EXCEL/MUSIC ACTIVITIES
It is important for you to be on time for excel, and your music activities. When dismissed from tutorial at 8:55, students must report to their band/orchestra room as listed on their schedule.
If you are not participating in an extracurricular/music activity during excel time, you will remain in your homeroom. This will be an ‘extended tutorial’ for the remaining time of 50 minutes. Please have work or a book to read.
COMMUNICATING WITH YOUR TEACHERS
Face to face communication with your teacher is the most important and effective way to advocate for yourself.
In class (not during direct instruction)
During Tutorial
During Homeroom
If you make a comment on Google Classroom (teachers do not receive notification!), or email your teacher, be sure to follow up with an in person conversation.
HOMEWORK
Homework is assigned to reinforce concepts taught in class. Homework is NOT optional and should be completed by the due dates. To help you keep track of your homework assignments in all of your 7-2 classes, we have created a homework hub. Please see the link below and bookmark it to your browser.
