Welcome to 7th Grade Math!
Welcome to 7th Grade Math! I strive to make math fun, engaging, and meaningful by incorporating games, activities, collaboration, and real-world applications into our lessons.
Throughout the year, students will explore a variety of topics, including:
Ratios & Proportions
Percentages
Expressions & Equations
Integers
Geometry
Probability
My goal is to help students build confidence in math while developing problem-solving skills that they can use both inside and outside of the classroom.
The daily schedule will be posted on my website after each class. Students can use this schedule to review the day's lesson, classwork, and homework assignments.
If a student is absent, they are expected to check the daily schedule to see what they missed and complete any assignments that are posted.
All tests and quizzes will be announced at least two days in advance. Students will receive a study guide with practice problems that are similar to those they will see on the assessment.
Throughout the year, students will complete a variety of independent and group projects. Each project will include a clear rubric outlining expectations and a due date.
Homework is due the class period after it is assigned. Homework will be graded using the class homework rubric.
During each trimester, selected classwork assignments will be graded using the classwork rubric. Graded classwork may include worksheets, exit tickets, notes, or other learning activities completed in class.
Final trimester grades are determined using an accumulating points system. The total number of points a student earns is divided by the total number of possible points.
Example:
If a student earns 180 points out of a possible 200 points:
180 ÷ 200 = 90%
The student's trimester grade would be 90%.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you and your student this year!
Our goal is to make math meaningful, engaging, and connected to the world around
