About the Teacher

Hello, My name is Mrs. Hanigan and I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself. I went to the American University in Washington, DC, where I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in teaching. I have three certificates of teaching in the State of New Jersey: Teacher of Nursery School, Elementary School, and Teacher of the Handicapped.

My teaching career began in 1988 - 1989 in Franklin Township, Somerset County as one of the teachers of The Developing Exceptional Abilities and Potential Program. After a year I accepted a position in Sayreville, Middlesex County from 1989 - 1994 teaching third grade and then second grade. I left in December to have my first son, Ryan. I returned to teaching a few years after my second son was born to work in Warren Township, Somerset County from 1998-99 as a resource center teacher. After that year I was offered a position for a short time at The Children's Garden of Learning in Neshanic Station, where my sons attended. I then accepted a position at Barley Sheaf in April of 2001 as a resource room teacher. My sons both attended Barley Sheaf. I am proud to continue to be a member of the Barley Sheaf staff.
