The Backpack Program is an in-school coordinated effort to provide non-perishable food items for qualifying families to take home over the weekend. These non-perishable items can make a difference for families in need, and are made possible by donations from our generous PTO and Copper Hill families and staff. We will be collecting items for this program on a rolling basis.
The needs of this program are specific, because food must be non-perishable and we must be able to split the items into many different backpacks for many different students! So we often seek items that are individually wrapped, shelf stable and kid and family friendly. Single-serve items are great.
Here are some examples:
Oatmeal packets
Shelf stable milk
Ramen/Cup of Noodles
Granola bars
Mac and cheese bowls
Canned soup/chili/pasta
Peanut butter
Fruit/applesauce pouches
Canned chicken/tuna
Pasta sauce
Canned veggies
Individual snack bags of graham crackers/healthy snacks
Cereal cups
Chef Boyardee meals
Fruit bowls (mandarin oranges, peaches, etc.)
