Grading

8th Grade Math

Grades will be based on the following:

  • Tests/Quizzes

  • Homework

  • Classwork/Participation

  • Projects

Weighting


  • Grades are based on a total points system. Each assignment will be worth a set amount of points.

  • To calculate a student's grade, divide the earned points (top number) by the total possible points (bottom number).

    • For example, a 17/20 would be an 85%.

Late Work:

  • For homework assignments:

    • Students may turn in late homework assignments for half credit, the following class period.


  • For long-term assignments (as per student handbook), the reduction will be:

    • One letter grade for up to two (2) school days late

    • Two letter grades for up to five (5) school days late

    • Failing grade for more than five (5) school days late
