Class Expectations

Welcome to 8th grade English Language Arts (ELA)!

I’m so excited to be your teacher this year and help you on this journey through eighth grade.

To be successful, here are a few things to know and do this year:

  1. Be on time for class!

  2. Have your camera on and mute yourself.

  3. Have all of your supplies ready.

  4. Use the restroom before class starts.

Supplies for class:

  1. Reader’s Notebook

  2. Writer’s Notebook

  3. Something to write with

  4. Independent Reading Book

  5. Chromebook (of course)

  6. Water or anything else for you to be comfortable

  7. An agenda or assignment pad

Once class starts, we’ll be doing a variety of whole class, small group, and individual activities, so walking away from your device to get what you need will be disruptive to everyone.

And as comfy as it is to be lounging on your bed, it’s not really the best workspace--especially for writing. Ideally you should be at a desk or table and in a quiet (or as quiet as can be--I know my house is a bit of a zoo right now) spot. Headphones/earbuds are always a good idea.
