No - our Chancel Choir is designed to welcome musicians of all abilities and backgrounds.
No problem! Our rehearsals involve teaching all the parts on the provided sheet music, so you can join in with no familiarity with the song or sight-reading.
Again, no problem! Since we fully rehearse Sunday's anthem the Thursday before, you'll always know what piece we're learning and when. Just show up for the Thursdays before the Sundays you'll be present and ready to sing.
We have multiple arrangements that are waiting for the write instrumentalist to be featured. Please just notify Allison via music@frpcusa.org about when you'd like to join in so we definitely have a part for you, keyboard or otherwise.
Absolutely. Since we are now fully separating Cantata rehearsals from the Sunday service rehearsals, you won't have missed a thing by not being part of the "typical" Sunday morning Chancel Choir.
Solo pieces are great for our prelude/offertory moments and for our summer music series, so please reach out to music@frpcusa.org with your idea and any availability.
Many of our anthems include a solo opportunity, and they're provided based on attendance and interest at our Thursday rehearsal. Generally, these solo spots are determined by the director on the basis of vocal part appropriateness and the distribution of opportunity to willing soloists; in almost all cases, there is no need to audition for these solo parts.
Our rehearsal materials page shows a chronological list of the upcoming anthems for each date, including a full recording of the piece and unique rehearsal tracks for each vocal part. These are posted a couple of weeks in advance so that you can listen and rehearse on your own until you feel more comfortable with what we'll be learning together.
If you need music for your own purposes before they are distributed on the Sunday before, please see Allison on any previous Thursday night or Sunday morning so that you can get the correct sheet.
