Class overview
The goal of our Character Education class is to build emotional awareness and grow together using a variety of tools and strategies. Every day we learn something new and practical to use in our every day lives. We teach each other and empower everyone in our environment to take control of our learning and practice real life skills.
About Me
My name is Jenna Oswald. I come from a long background of working with children in many capacities, and have found a passion for Social Emotional Learning. Through working with students building character, my goal is to teach kindness, empathy, friendship and life skills that will benefit students in and out of school.
Each week we have a character trait we'll learn about like, "Respect." We practice the trait by talking about what it looks like, sounds like and feels like at home and at school. Their teacher also gets a debrief sheet each week to watch for the students practicing their skills outside of class to be rewarded! A teamwork approach keeps us all on the same page, working together to build character and good habits.
In the character education and social work office, there is a safe space and manipulative tools to help students cope with their feelings and process behavior needs. These resources are available and used for students as a proactive measure of behavior intervention.
