Question: Why is it called STAAR redesign, has anything changed from last year's format?
Answer: It is called STAAR redesign because there are new question types that students have not seen on STAAR before. These question types can be found on this website under the tab titled "New Question Types".
Question: This question is for 3rd Graders. Where could we practice new patterns of questions? Does Khan academy or IXL have new question patterns? Where can I find online materials to help with STAAR for my child ?
Answer: There is limited online practice available that includes the new question types given this is the first year for this rollout. Classroom teachers have done an excellent job of providing examples of new question types and talked through ways to answers these types of questions. You can use the TEA website linked HERE for some practice. Click sign in on the bottom, select your grade level, and then decide which test you want to try out!
Question: For 3rd Grade Math, does practicing ST Math help with the new pattern questions?
Answer: ST Math is helpful for practicing skills needed to answer the questions, but does not specifically focus on new question types.
Question: From where can I get a sample of test?
Answer: You can find samples of previously given STAAR tests linked HERE, but the new redesign test is being implemented for the 1st time this year.
