5th Grade Camp

December 5th- 7th 2018

I attend Pine Cove with the 5th graders. If your child becomes ill or has a fever while at camp, you will be called to pick them up. Please do not send your child to camp if they are ill, or have had a temperature over 100 within 24 hours prior to camp.

PLEASE NOTE: The camp medication form is different from the school medication form. You received the form with your camp packet. There are certain medications that are district approved and only need a parent’s signature, they include: Advil, Tylenol, Tums, Benadryl, and cough drops.

If there is any other over the counter medication that your child will require at camp, you will need to provide a doctor’s note in addition to the form. This is FISD policy. If it is a prescription drug, then the medication must be in the original container with a current prescription label on it.

Please send in all medications for camp November 30th 2018, FRIDAY BEFORE we leave. I will not accept medication after Friday due to the amount of preparation I am required to do for each student. Please plan accordingly.Did you know that you can request an additional bottle and prescription label just for camp? Your pharmacist will do that for you. That way you can turn in even your child's daily medication by the due date. If your child has an inhaler, you must also fill out the self-administration medication form so that your child may carry their inhaler with them. If your child requires nebulizer treatments, you will need to pack his/her meds and tubing. There is not tubing at camp.

If you are chosen as a chaperone then you will bring your own child's medication and give as needed.

Upon returning to school, I will be waiting in the school lobby with your child's medication when the buses arrive. Please remember to pick up the medication and sign it out before leaving campus.

Question: What is the #1 reason students come to see the nurse at camp ?

Answer: They are not properly dressed which causes them to be uncomfortably cold.

The weather is cold in December. We are in the woods. A cold breeze blows off the lake and sometimes it is wet and rainy. The kids absolutely love it if they are properly dressed.

Please ensure your child has multiple layers of clothing to include leggings under jeans/ sweatpants, T-shirt under sweatshirt/sweater, a heavy coat, waterproof gloves and a beanie hat.

I want camp to be a fun experience for everyone so let's keep them warm and comfortable!
