Fiction vs. Nonfiction Concepts - Here are some reading skills to think about when you are reading books!

General Reading Skills - reading concepts broken down
Florida Center for Reading Research - this is a free website that has a lot of student activities to support reading comprehension and phonics knowledge. Click where it says "FCRR student center activities" to access these activities. It gives detailed instructions for how to do each activity and the activity itself on paper.
Anchor Charts for Unit 1 - These are charts we use in our reading lessons throughout the unit to support student thinking! This unit is all about fiction. This unit reviews all of the fiction skills students are expected to know and think about. Character change, author's purpose, theme, and making inferences are the biggest discussion points.
Anchor Charts for Unit 2 - These are charts we use in our reading lessons when talking about nonfiction! This unit is all about learning new information. Students will be asked to research a topic they know of but don't know a lot about, research that topic and write notes, and display the information they learned in a project based presentation.
Anchor Charts for Unit 3 - These are charts we use in our reading lessons. This unit is all about fiction book clubs and it focuses on characters and the themes in a story. Students are challenged to write about their thinking in different ways.
Anchor Charts for Unit 4 - These are the charts we use for the poetry unit. The biggest focus of this unit is figurative language and applying fiction skills the students ALREADY know to a poem!
Anchor Charts for Unit 5 - We use these charts in our debate unit. This unit challenges students to research both sides of a debate and be ready to argue against an opponent.
Anchor Charts for Unit 6 - We use these charts throughout the unit. Students will be working in fantasy book clubs. Their focus is on character interactions, changes, and theme.
Writing
Grammar Anchor Charts - We use these anchor charts in class to discuss grammar concepts in class. These concepts are crucial to developing more advanced grammar in the English language.
Anchor Charts for Unit 1 - These are the anchor charts we use during our lessons to support students in their writing. This unit is all about writing true stories. Students are expected to develop a character and draw out the heart of their story.
Anchor Charts for Unit 2 - These are the anchor charts we use during our lessons. This unit is all about researching historical time period and writing a report! Students are challenged to write everything in their own words!
Anchor Charts for Unit 3 - These are the anchor charts we use during our lessons and during the independent time. This unit is all about writing a literary essay. Students will have to come up with a theme or a statement about a character and back it up with reasons/evidence.
Anchor Charts for Unit 4 - This unit is all about arguments and debates. Students will be expected to research a topic and write an argument for that topic. They will use their knowledge and skills of literary essays to guide their arguments.
Anchor Charts for Unit 5 - This unit is all about fantasy writing. It heavily encourages students to write in a way that reflects the language of a fantasy, develop a complicated character, and incorporate a theme throughout the story.
Math
New activities will be assigned periodically. These are activities that will be helpful to students in reviewing. All students have been shown how to log on so they should be able to do so easily.

3. Click on "Student Links".
4. Click on the Stemscopes tile.
5. Click on "Login with LDAP"
6. Add Stemscopes to your Favorites for easy access.
