FAQ's

We will provide each student with an orchestra binder and pencil pouch at the beginning of the year. Each student is responsible for bringing the binder with their music and pencils to class EVERY DAY. We will have binder/supply checks throughout the year for a grade. Click on your instrument to view the beginner supply list. Cellos and basses have school instruments, so their home instruments can stay at home. Violins and Violas should take their home instrument to school every day. We recommend writing your name on all supplies so that you don't lose them.

ADVANCED:

• TUNER - All students will need to purchase their own tuner for the 2024-2025 school year. Here are links to the tuners we recommend for each instrument. VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO, BASS

Beginners should start building a routine of practicing at least 15-20 minutes a day, 5 days per week. 

Concert & Philharmonic Orchestra members should be practicing at least 30-45 minutes, 5 days per week.

Symphonic Orchestra members should be practicing at least 45 minutes, 5 days per week.

Chamber Orchestra members should be practicing at least 60 minutes a day, 5 days per week.

Of course, we appreciate any help! Please make sure that you fill out the Frisco ISD parent volunteer form ahead of time so that the district can run a background check. It might take a few business days for this to be complete, so we encourage you to fill it out at the beginning of the year. 

Rent... please do NOT purchase an instrument !!! Instruments that are purchased during middle school can come with many issues. If you have questions about this, please reach out to Mr. Rauscher or Ms. Lara.

Welcome, we are glad you decided to join the Pearson Orchestra! After talking to the counselors about your schedule, there will be an audition to determine which orchestra is the best fit for you. If you don't have previous orchestra experience, we will place you in your choice of beginner Violin, Viola, Cello, or Bass class. (depending on availability). Once your class is determined, we will provide a list of supplies needed. 

All PMSO concerts are free of charge! No ticket is required for entry.
