My number one goal is to help students feel cared for, capable, and connected. I am here to support students, parents, teachers, and administrators and the following are some of my responsibilities:
I will be going into classes on a regular basis and teaching students about topics such as character traits, safety, and making good choices. I will tailor the lessons based on the need and development of the classes I visit.
Small groups are a way we can meet the needs of students who might need some additional support in the areas of friendships and feelings. This is a safe and encouraging place students can learn together. Groups are formed through parent and teacher referrals.
I do meet individually with students to help them through an issue or situation. It is important to keep in mind that school counselors do no provide therapy. Remember that my goal is to help students with academic success and issues that could interfere with that classroom success. If your child is experiencing an issue that affects them outside of school, I have a variety of resources that may help!
I am also part of the Student Support Team that meets to help make a plan for a student's success. I serve as the 504 Coordinator. The 504 committee also helps to make individual success plans for students.
We partner with PTA , local elementary schools, and the district to provide parent programs throughout the year. If you have a specific need, you can always contact me and I will work to give you information to support your family.
Frisco ISD offers a district wide program to address bullying prevention and intervention. We will be discussing these topics during guidance and regularly during classroom meetings where teachers and students will come together to address the needs of the class. Important aspects of the program include the basics of bullying, the role of the bystander, conflict resolution, and empathy. For more information, visit Bullying Prevention and Intervention
