Paying for Lost or Damaged Books

Please contact Ms. Hill for the exact replacement cost of your lost book at hillkarl@fisd.org.

Sometimes books get lost or damaged. When things like this happen, the Hunt library uses a site called "Support our Library" through Bound to Stay Bound. All funds used to pay for lost or damaged books will go back into the Hunt Library and will be used to not only replace materials, but also to purchase more!

Please note that once you make a payment to Support our Library, it cannot be refunded.

Thank you!

Most common places lost library books are found:

1. In your PE/Athletics/Band locker

2. In your backpack

3. In your teacher's classroom - either on their bookcase or in an area where they place lost and found items.

4. Lost and found

5. In your car (under the seat)

6. In your bedroom (under your bed)

7. In the library because someone found it and turned it in for you.

After you have thoroughly checked ALL of these places, please see Ms. Hill for the replacement price because once paid, the money cannot be refunded to you if you find the book later.

Reading With Your Middle School Student

  • Create a quiet, special place in your home for your child to read. Keep books and reading materials readily available.

  • Help your child see that reading is important. Set a good example for your child by reading books, newspapers, and magazines. Talk about what you are reading.

  • Visit bookstores, public and school libraries regularly to find materials for pleasure reading.

  • Be attentive to your child’s interests and developing skills. Remember to be somewhat non-judgmental about the text your child chooses: cartoons/graphic novels, instructions for video games, fantasy, sports, or fashion magazines can be the key to unlocking a lifetime of reading pleasure.

  • Write notes recognizing your child’s accomplishments. A little praise can go a long way!

  • Encourage your child to read for 15 minutes before going to sleep each night.
