Practice : Writing their name with an uppercase letter to start and the rest of the letters in lowercase. (new leaners to printing/writing their name will begin writing using all uppercase letters and that is expected) Upon transitioning to kindergarten is when a child should begin to practice the correct form of an uppercase to start, followed by lowercase letters.
Practice hearing rhyming words. Rhyming words sound the same at the end. A good precursor to emergent reading is the ability to hear and identify words that rhyme.
