Production Attendance:

Students are encouraged to attend live theatre performances at Griffin and our sister schools in Frisco ISD.

Griffin Theatre Performances:

Students are encouraged to audition for the mainstage shows, but it is not required of them to do so. However, students  ARE REQUIRED to participate in the Spring Showcase in May. Production dates are below:

Grading:

Progress Checks (Daily Classwork) - as students grow into performers, they will receive evaluations showing their growth. These grades will not affect their average for the grading period.

Assessment of Learning (Mastery Grades) - students will showcase their Mastery through performance. 

For example, to show their mastery of using movement on stage, students will rehearse and perform a pantomime for their class. In the performance, students will demonstrate how to stand on stage, how to move on stage, how to use facial expressions, and how to use their body expressively. 

Mastery Grades are entered into the gradebook on a traditional 100 scale and are used to calculate a student's final grade for the grading period.

Retesting - if a student is not satisfied with their Mastery Grade, they will be offered an opportunity to retest. In order to retest a performance, the student will need to schedule time before school to have a rehearsal with Ms. Englander. Once they have rehearsed with Ms. Englander, we will schedule the retest.

Class Expectations:

All students in the Griffin Theatre Class are expected to participate and try new things even when it's weird or scary.

Respect your fellow classmates. Theatre involves a fair amount of risk. In order for us to do our best, we must allow others to speak and perform without fear of being judged.

Come to class on time and bring your materials every day.

Come to class prepared to work. If you are absent, it is up to you to find out what was missed.

All students are required to follow all Frisco Theatre Safety Protocols. 

Leave your cell phone in your backpack unless Ms. Englander says we're using it for an activity

Save your food/gum for lunch

Clean up area before leaving class

If it is not yours, don't touch it.
