Bethany Hardwick is the Director of Orchestras at Scott Johnson Middle School in McKinney, TX. She holds degrees from the University of North Texas and Boston University. Mrs. Hardwick’s orchestras have earned consistent Sweepstakes awards in UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest, as well as “Best in Class” and “Overall Outstanding” in numerous orchestra festivals. Known to her students as "Mrs. Hardy Party," Mrs. Hardwick has established a reputation for being an inclusive orchestra director, and has presented at conventions, on podcasts, and at universities about how to include everyone in orchestra!
Mrs. Hardwick has received numerous accolades including Quarterfinalist for the GRAMMY Music Educator Award (2015, 2019, 2025), GRAMMY Semifinalist (2019) Campus Teacher of the Year (2016), Winston Churchill Distinguished Alumni in the Arts (2018), and the Cain Sczepanski Foundation in Special Education Award of Excellence (2019). Mrs. Hardwick performs regularly in the DFW area with string quartets, rock bands, and local musical theater productions. In her free time, Mrs. Hardwick loves to travel, hike and camp, and spend time with her husband, Kevin, and their dogs, Zooey and Penny.
Emily De La Torre currently serves as the Orchestra Director at Rice Middle School in Plano, Texas. Under her direction, the Rice Middle School Orchestras have earned numerous UIL Sweepstakes Awards, and the Chamber Orchestra was recently selected as the 2025 TMEA Honor String Orchestra. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Texas Christian University and a Master of Music and Human Learning degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
Mrs. De La Torre’s journey in music began at the age of three when she started playing the violin under her mother's guidance. She is a proud graduate of Plano East Senior High, where she held the position of concertmaster for the 2005 TMEA String Honor Orchestra performance under the direction of Betsy Thomas and earned the impressive accolade of being a two-time member of the Texas All-State Orchestra.
Apart from her teaching responsibilities, Emily enjoys spending time with her family and remains an active violinist, performing frequently with the Allen Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and local churches.
Dennis Langevin is a proud graduate of the University of North Texas. He currently serves as the Head Orchestra Director at Moseley Middle School in Prosper, Texas, with 29 years of experience in music education. Under his leadership, his orchestras have consistently earned superior ratings at UIL and other local music festivals. He has been recognized for excellence in teaching as an Experienced Teacher of the Year and a recipient of the Marjorie Keller Outstanding Young Orchestra Director Award from both the National School Orchestra Association (NSOA) and the Texas American String Teachers Association (TexASTA) as well as being recognized in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
Mr. Langevin is also an active clinician, conductor, and adjudicator throughout North Texas and across the state. He is deeply committed to music education and passionate about sharing the gift of music with students and colleagues alike. Outside of the classroom, he is a freelance musician, performing in professional theaters and venues throughout the Dallas / Fort Worth area on just about any instrument with a string on it! When not teaching or performing, he enjoys spending time with his wife, their three children… and their two cats.
