On October 22 2019, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released an annual report detailing 857 cyclist deaths, the highest number in three decades (bicycling.com). In addition to a helmet, cyclists can take other personal precautions to guarantee their safety on the road. The Sycle Safe is a lightweight, wearable vest for cyclists that displays turn signals and brake lights on the back so the rider can communicate what they are doing to other cars and cyclists. The controls are located by the biker’s handles for easy accessibility and control. The high visibility of the LED display to cars ensures safety on the road as the other drivers will clearly see what the cyclist is anticipating whether it is turning or stopping.

The vest has an LED matrix on its back that displays the turn signals and brake lights. The vest is controlled by two toggle switches that attatch to a bike's handlebars near the handles and two flex sensors that stick under the hand brakes. The user flips the switches to control the turn signals. In order to control the brake light, all the user has to do is brake as they usually would and the flex sensors will sense the brake and activate the light.
